One of the questions we get asked the most is:
“How do I wash my Etsuka piece?”
It’s a great question, especially since many people know that Etsuka began by transforming vintage Japanese kimonos into modern clothing.
Traditional kimonos are often incredibly delicate. Many are made from 100% silk, feature hand-painted artwork, intricate embroidery, or woven details that deserve extra care. That’s why, as a general rule, we always recommend dry cleaning for Etsuka pieces that feature heritage fabrics.
But here’s some good news for those who own Etsuka piece, especially our pants like Palazzo Pants (or any of our items with lining)
Our palazzo pants are designed with an inner lining, making everyday care much easier than most people expect.
Here’s how to hand wash the lining:
1.Turn the inner lining inside out.
The lining isn’t removable, but it can be turned out from inside the pants, making it easy to wash while keeping the heritage fabric protected.
2. Hand wash the lining.
Use room temperature water and a mild detergent. The lining is made from polyester, so a gentle hand wash is all it needs.
3. Keep the heritage fabric dry.
Avoid getting water on the kimono fabric. Once the lining is clean, let it air dry before putting it back into your pants.
This way, you can keep your pants feeling fresh while protecting the beautiful heritage fabric that makes each piece so special.
